Zacapa Xo is an ultra-premium rum made from a mixture of aged rums between 6 and 25 years, with an additional aging in French oak barrels previously used to age cognac that reveal aromas of pillory and spices. Instead of molasses, Zacapa uses "virgin honey", obtained from the first pressing of sugar cane, and subject it to an exclusive aging process called Solera, being stored in barrels previously used to age American whiskeys, wines from Jerez and Pedro Ximénez and brandy. Ron Zacapa XO

Ron Zacapa XO is produced in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is extracted from fresh cane juice. Then, age 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 17 ° C using the hearth process. This aging process incorporates barrels that previously contained American whiskeys, sherry, wines and cognac.

The secret of success

In reality, the company says that part of its success lies in the storage of barrels. They are stored at 2300 meters above sea level. On the other hand, aging facilities are located below the upper slopes of the mountains and volcanoes of Guatemala. There the temperature, on average, is 16.7 ° C.

The first bottles of Zacapa were covered with a duffel bag. It is a hand-woven mat made of palm leaves dating from the Mayan period. More recently, they present a band around the middle of the bottle.
